Dinteranthus sp.

Dinteranthus sp. Dinteranthus sp.
Date: 1999 November 9

This plant was grown from seed sown in 1995, obtained as Dinteranthus microspermus, and this was the first time that it flowered. But after reading an article on Dinteranthus by Suzanne Mace in the September 1999 issue of the British Cactus & Succulent Journal, and considering that the plant is totally lacking in markings, I wonder if it is really D. wilmotianus subsp. impunctatus, sometimes known as D. inexpectatus.

I consider these to be among the more desirable of the Mesembs. They are never common, perhaps due to being quite difficult to raise from seed, which is said to require above average temperatures to germinate.
