Taking the road from Linares, on the highway to the South of Monterrey, we turn West to leave behind the flat land and the rain and start to ascend into the mountains.

Attracted by the pink flowers of an Echinocereus, we stop and explore a little. The area was perhaps too densely wooded for many cacti, though we also saw a Selenicereus sprawling over the rocks.
